Makarska - između planine i mora
Makarska is located in central Dalmatia, between mountain Biokovo and the Adriatic Sea. It is a coastal city of Split-Dalmatia County and is the center of Makarska Riviera, micro-region that extends from Brela in the west and Gradac to the east. City is sharply divided from the mainland by the mountain Biokovo (the highest peak of St. Jure, 1762 m), and the central Dalmatian islands Brac and Hvar connect it with Adriatic Sea. It is an amazing scenery and one of the most beautiful Croatian beaches.
The city is situated in a natural harbor between the two peninsulas, Osejava and St. Petar. The zone between the mountains and the sea is wide only a few kilometers, so that further expansion of the city goes to the east and west, to the neighboring villages Tučepi and Krvavica. Average summer temperature is 27 ˚C while in winter measures up to 12 ˚C, therefore Makarska is certainly one of the sunniest cities in Dalmatia.
